The main difference between digital printing and traditional lithography, is that there is no need for the production of printing plates. This results in quicker turnaround time and lower set up cost, but typically a loss of some fine-image detail. This method applies toner which does not permeate the substrate, as does conventional ink, but forms a thin layer on the surface adhered to the substrate by using a fuser fluid with heat.
